UNIVERSITY VILLAGE — A University of Illinois at Chicago student told police this week that she was forced into a vehicle at gunpoint Monday, and then again on Tuesday.

The UIC student reported that at about 11 a.m. Monday she was approached near 900 S. Halsted St. on campus by three men in an older model four-door brown vehicle, according to a UIC crime alert. The victim reported that the offenders  forced her into the vehicle while displaying a gun.

The offenders then drove the victim to her bank and unsuccessfully attempted to use her debit card, according to police. After leaving the bank, the offenders then drove to a gas station located near West 18th Street and South Ruble Street and attempted to purchase fuel using the victim’s debit card.

After an unsuccessful attempt at purchasing fuel, the offenders drove the victim back to South Halsted Street and West Roosevelt Road where she exited the vehicle, police said.

The victim reported that she again saw the offenders near 1000 South Halsted Street on Tuesday and she was again forced into a vehicle and taken back to her bank. After another unsuccessful attempt at using the victim’s debit card the offenders drove the victim back to South Halsted Street and West Roosevelt Road where she exited the vehicle, according to police.

The victim was not injured.

The three offenders are described as black men, between 17 and 21 years of age, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 tall. Two offenders had dreadlocks and the third offender had short hair and a tattoo on his wrist, police said.

The Chicago Police Department is leading the investigation with assistance from the UIC Police/CPD Joint Robbery Task Force.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Chicago Police Department at 311 or UIC Police at 312-996-2830.
