CHICAGO — The Chicago Marathon might have picked the perfect weekend for this year's race: It'll be rain-free and not too hot or cold.

The dry weather should last throughout the weekend, said AccuWeather meteorologist Bob Smerbeck, and there will be some sunshine both days.

Saturday will see temperatures in the mid-60s, while Sunday, the day of the marathon, will have a high temperature in the upper 60s, Smerbeck said. That's normal for this time of year. Low temperatures for those days will be in the 40s.

The nice weather has been typical for this season so far: It was a mild summer, and the city has had a warm fall so far, Smerbeck said.

The Chicago Marathon said in an email to runners that it expects to have good conditions for the run, but it warned participants to drink water and sports drinks, respect the distance of the marathon and only participate if they've properly trained.

Conditions for the race could change, the marathon said, and runners should be prepared for that and should pay attention to signs and announcements.
