10 Shot Dead, 45 Wounded In Gun Violence Since Friday, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings throughout the city killed 10 people and wounded at least 45 others since Friday, according to police.

At 6:10 a.m. Sunday, a 25-year-old man was found shot to death in Ashburn.

Another 10 people were shot since Sunday morning, police said, including a 23-year-old man wounded in a Wicker Park shooting.

Englewood and West Englewood saw three shootings since Sunday morning, wounding three people, police said.

Friday was the weekend's most deadly day, as six people were killed and 16 others were wounded in shootings.

Between Saturday morning and Sunday morning, three men were killed and another 20 people were wounded, police said. Included in the dead was a 54-year-old man fatally shot near the Art Institute.

In other non-fatal shootings:

• At 2:40 a.m. Monday, a 44-year-old man was shot in East Garfield Park, police said. 

The man was sitting on a front porch when someone in a white car began firing, police said. He was hit in his right forearm and leg and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was not released but police considered him to be stable.

• A 23-year-old man was wounded in an Englewood shooting at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, police said. 

• At 8 p.m. Sunday, a 19-year-old man was wounded in an Austin shooting, said Officer Michelle Tannehill, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

He was walking in the 5000 block of West Division Street when someone confronted him before opening fire, Tannehill said. The man was struck in his buttocks and was taken to West Suburban Hospital before being transferred to Stroger in good condition, police aid.

• At 5:45 p.m. Sunday, a 20-year-old man was shot in Marquette Park, Tannehill said.

He was in the 7000 block of South Campbell Avenue when he was shot in his right thigh and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition, she said.

• A 17-year-old girl was shot in Austin Sunday evening, Tannehill said.

At 5:30 p.m., she was in the 200 block of South Leamington Avenue when shots rang out, Tannehill said. She was struck in her leg and was taken to West Suburban Hospital in good condition, Tannehill said.

• A 17-year-old boy was critically wounded in an Englewood shooting at 4:21 p.m. Sunday.

• A 21-year-old man was wounded in a Woodlawn shooting late Sunday morning, Tannehill said.

At 11:25 a.m., the man was in the 6200 block of South Ingleside Avenue when he was shot in his thigh and managed to get himself to University of Chicago Hospital, where his condition was not released but police considered him to be stable.

• Sunday's first shooting came at 11:05 a.m., when a 20-year-old man was shot in Englewood.
