BUCKTOWN/WICKER PARK — Two stores on Damen avenue that opened within the past few years have abruptly shuttered, with a third shop set to close by end of the month.
Stio Mountain Gear Studio, a Jackson Hole, Wyo.-based outdoor apparel and accessories shop, which opened on the same weekend as The 606 last June, closed Friday.
"We very much appreciate the warm welcome we received by supporters and customers in the Bucktown/Wicker Park neighborhood and Greater Chicago communities," says a sign in the window at 1719 N. Damen Ave.
Earlier this month, Gant Rugger, a preppy New England-based brand that sells chinos, V-neck sweaters and button-down shirts, shuttered its first Midwest shop at 1702 N. Damen Ave. The store opened in 2013.
The space is for rent, according to a listing.
The third shop, Flight 001, which sells travel accessories and opened last summer, will close by the end of the month, a sales clerk said on Thursday.
A "Bon Voyage" sale offers 40-percent off several items and a sign in the window encourages customers to shop online at Flight001.com.
