COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — An Englewood man accused of stealing $8,000 worth of Moosejaw jackets late last month is being held on $350,000 bail.

That means Sean Johnson, 25, would need $35,000, or 10 percent of his total bail amount, to post bond.

"Mr. Johnson," Cook County Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr. said as he set bail Tuesday afternoon, "we have a world-class city, and we're not going to let this lawless behavior continue."

Authorities believe Johnson was one of three men who broke into the Lincoln Park Moosejaw at 1901 N. Clybourn Ave. and stole 10 jackets totaling $8,000 on Aug. 31.

That same store, which sells $800 winter jackets, was the target of multiple smash-and-grab burglaries over the winter.

Assistant State's Attorney Lorraine Scaduto on Tuesday said it wasn't clear whether Johnson had anything to do with the earlier crimes. But prosecutors have charged him with robbery and retail theft in the Aug. 31 incident.

According to Scaduto, Johnson and two accomplices surrounded and pushed a Moosejaw employee before fleeing the store on Aug. 31. The trio escaped in a waiting red minivan — but not before being captured on security cameras.

The Chicago Police Department released photos of the suspects earlier this month, and a tip led to Johnson's arrest, prosecutors said. Police previously said the jackets stolen were worth $20,000, but Scaduto on Tuesday estimated the actual value to be around $8,000.

Johnson, of the 6100 block of South Bishop Street, was previously convicted of residential burglary and sentenced to four years in prison.

His accomplices have not yet been charged.
