THE LOOP — Halal Guys is continuing its push into Chicago, now with a new store opening Friday in the Loop.

The New York food cart will open its second Chicago restaurant at 11 a.m. Friday at 172 N. Wabash Ave. Those who arrive early will get a free bag and T-shirt while supplies last.

The opening will follow Halal Guys' Chicago debut last year in the Gold Coast. The chain, known for its Mediterranean wraps and rice-and-meat platters drenched in red and white sauces, is going bigger with its second store and will have outdoor seating.

The new restaurant will also sit next to Bean & Leaf, a new café run by local Halal Guys franchisees Steven Chong and Vincent Tan. The coffee shop will serve Verve and Stumptown coffee, as well as pies from Bang Bang Pie Shop.

"Be on the lookout for Kombucha on tap and a new specialty drink that they say Chicagoans have yet to see," Chong said in an email.

The new Loop store will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, Chong said.
