Alyssa Allgood Gives Free Performance In Uptown Before Chicago Jazz Fest

UPTOWN — Uptown United is partnering with the Chicago Jazz Festival for this month's Uptown Saturday Nights.

The free event held on the second Saturday of each month aims to bring free entertainment to venues around the neighborhood.

Saturday, Uptown Saturday Nights will bring Alyssa Allgood Jazz Quintet, which is also scheduled to perform at the 38th Annual Chicago Jazz Festival, to the Charlie Chaplin Theater at St. Augustine College, 1345 W. Argyle St., according to a newsrelease for the event.

The Quintet is composed of Allgood providing vocals, Dan Chase on the organ, Tim Fitzgerald on guitar, Chris Madsen on saxophone and Matt Plaskota on drums.

Allgood's debut EP Lady Bird was named a best release of 2015 by All About Jazz and is currently working on her first full-length album, which is due out in the fall. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Studies from North Central College in Naperville and was named a 2016 Jazz fellow through the Luminarts Cultural Organization, according to the release.
