WICKER PARK —  Two men were arrested after beating up another man in an incident that police say started with a traffic accident in the Wicker Park area.

The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. Monday in the 1500 block of North Ashland Avenue, according to Officer Nicole Trainor, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

A 40-year–old man was "involved in a traffic crash with another vehicle," causing two men in the other car to get out of their car and beat the man "with their hands and feet."

A tweet from CPD Citywide, which relays scanner chatter, said that there was a "pool of blood on sidewalk" in the battery.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses said the fight happened on the sidewalk at the Ashland and Pierce intersection, just south of Hollywood Grill and on the west side of the street, where traffic heads south.

Trainor said that both offenders are in police custody and charges are pending.
