THE LOOP — Most teenagers would probably choose music festivals over political conventions. And it looks like Malia Obama is no different — the "first kid" skipped the last day of the Democratic National Convention to attend Lollapalooza.

The 18-year-old was spotted Thursday, jamming out to Norwegian EDM artist Cashmere Cat on the first day of the four-day music festival held in Grant Park. Even though she missed pop star Katy Perry's performance at the DNC, she seems to be having a blast.

Some Tweeters were critical of the First Daughter's decision to skip the convention, where her mother spoke Monday:

But most observers were on #TeamMalia, arguing that the Harvard-bound 18-year-old deserved a chance to be a normal teen.

Surprised festival attendees shared photos and videos of Malia on social media, and her Lolla presence was quickly broadcast throughout Twitter.

The secret service was also there, but not in the typical "Men in Black"-style outfits. Here are some of White House guards dressed in khaki pants and plaid shirts.

This isn't the first time Malia joined the Lollapalooza crowd — in 2014, she was seen at Chance the Rapper's performance.
