ALBANY PARK — Officers nabbed three drunk drivers and issued more than 60 citations during a recent DUI strike force in the Albany Park (17th) Police District.

The strike force patrol was conducted July 9-10 in an area bounded by Devon, Belmont and Cicero avenues and the Chicago River.

In addition to handing out three tickets for driving under the influence, police busted motorists for a host of other violations. 

Officers wrote 26 tickets for traffic violations, 12 for unsafe vehicle violations, 11 for seatbelt violations, five for insurance violations and four for driver's license violations. Four vehicles were also towed.

During a strike force patrol, officers flood a designated area and are on the lookout for any sign of impaired driving.

Communities in the Albany Park Police District include Albany Park, Avondale, Irving Park, Mayfair, North Mayfair, North Park and Ravenswood Manor.
