HYDE PARK — Neighborhood author Kalisha Buckhanon will unveil her new novel, “Solemn,” at 57th Street Books on July 8.
Buckhannon’s new novel follows a poor girl in Mississippi who witnesses the death of a child she believes is her step-sibling and must grapple with being put in a home for girls after her father is arrested for a robbery.
Buckhanon will read from her third novel at 6 p.m. at the bookstore, 1301 E. 57th St.
A reception at the Silver Room, 1506 E. 53rd St., will follow with food, wine and music.
