GOLD COAST — Police and residents will join together Wednesday night in the Gold Coast for a "positive loitering" event following the fatal shooting of a 27-year-old man.

The event will start at 6 p.m. at the southwest corner of Clark and Division streets, according to the office of Ald. Brian Hopkins (2nd). It is intended to be a show of force and a chance for neighbors to convene.

The event was planned in response to a fatal shooting last week near the Clark and Division Red Line stop. Hopkins organized a similar meetup last week.

Police have identified a person of interest in the shooting, which stemmed from a fight over drugs, but have yet to make an arrest.

Hopkins, whose ward includes the incident, said the corner has been "subject to longstanding criminal activity."
