BRIDGEPORT — Tamika Maria Price has moved her style boutique to the neighborhood, and she’s here to transform the lives of women all over the city.

“Top to bottom, inside out,” Price said from Standout Style Boutique at 3353 S. Morgan St., where she carries a wide variety of clothing and accessories while offering coaching to women who want to develop their personal business brands.

Price moved her boutique from Lakeview to Bridgeport in May and has since expanded her business to host pop-up shops, classes and panels.

“This has become a boutique and an event space,” Price said. “We have events planned through the holidays now.”

Price plans to have a monthly event that welcomes a prominent female entrepreneur to teach guests about branding and marketing strategies.

A wardrobe stylist since 2008, Price opened Standout Style Boutique in March 2014 to offer "head-turning style" in a range of sizes. Her shop offers clothing in every size from extra small to 3XL.

“Our denim goes up to a size 20. Women everywhere that I know love that,” Price said. “It’s all about getting the most out of your wardrobe, and women of all sizes can enjoy having standout style.”

In her off time, Price wrote a motivational book about her life as a homeless youth turned style expert. She appeared on an episode of the “Rachael Ray Show" in 2009, and Black Enterprise Magazine named her one of the "Top 40 Under 40 Game Changers.”

When it comes to inspiring women to launch their businesses and brands, Price said she focused on helping her clients embrace themselves.

“It’s about confidence and owning the room in terms of your wardrobe and feeling good in your own skin,” Price said.

And Price is here to help her clients look good, too.

“I’m a very honest wardrobe stylist if something doesn’t look good on my clients,” she said.

Since trading her Lakeview headquarters for a spot on the South Side, Price feels at home.

“It feels like a neighborhood, and I really like that,” Price said. “It’s like they’re genuinely happy to see businesses that are small in their neighborhood.”
