CHICAGO — A 4-year-old boy was among 17 people shot and wounded around the city between Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning, police said.

The boy was one of three people shot in Woodlawn after the neighborhood had gone more than a week without a shooting.

• Most recently, around 4 a.m. Wednesday morning, a 34-year-old man was shot in Englewood.

• At 2:03 a.m., officers found a man in his 20s in the 6300 block of South Talman Avenue in Mrquette Park who had been shot in his head and three times in his back, according to Officer Laura Amezaga, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was brought to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was in grave condition, police said.

• At 11:40 p.m. Tuesday night, a 26-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the 200 block of North Lamon Avenue in Austin when someone walked up and shot at him, Amezaga said.

The man brought himself to Loretto Hospital with gunshot wounds in his back and right arm, and he was transferred to Stroger Hospital, Amezaga said. Police could not provide his condition but said he was "stable."

• At 11:07 p.m., a 20-year-old man was in a car stopped at the intersection of 89th Street and Loomis Boulevard in Auburn Gresham when a gray car pulled alongside him and someone inside opened fire, Amezaga said.

The man was brought to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was in critical condition after being shot in his back and his head, Amezaga said.

• Six men were wounded in separate shootings in North Lawndale between 9 and 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

• Around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday evening, a 21-year-old man was shot in the 5300 block of West LeMoyne Street in Austin, police said.

The man was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was "stable" with a gunshot wound in his left leg, police said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member and a convicted felon.

• At 2:42 p.m., a 34-year-old man was grazed by a bullet in the 200 block of North Sacramento Avenue in East Garfield Park.

The man refused medical attention for his wound, police said.
