HYDE PARK — The Smart Museum of Art is celebrating changes to its permanent collections galleries with a series of cookouts over the summer, starting Thursday.
The museum, 5550 S. Greenwood Ave., will open new exhibits in its contemporary art gallery and the “Prints and Privacy” exhibit with a cookout from 5-7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Free food and drinks will be served in the museum’s courtyard and composer and flutist Janice Misurell-Mitchell will perform a work inspired by Antony Gormley’s sculpture “Infinite Cube” inside the gallery.
Additional cookouts are planned for July 14 and Aug. 18.
The event is free and open to the public, but the museum asks visitors to RSVP by emailing SmartRSVP@uchicago.edu.
