ENGLEWOOD — Alfondia Kelly, 44, was killed and a 21-year-old woman was wounded in a drive-by shooting in Englewood late Monday night, police said.

Around 11:35 p.m., the pair was barbecuing in a vacant lot in the 6600 block of South Union Avenue when someone shot at them from a passing black SUV, said Officer Laura Amezaga, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Kelly was brought to Stroger Hospital after being shot in the armpit, Amezaga said. He was pronounced dead at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, according to Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records. An autopsy showed he died of multiple gunshot wounds.

The woman was brought to Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound in the back, Amezaga said. Police could not provider her condition but said she was "stable."

No one is in custody, police said.
