WEST TOWN — A 23-year-old man walked into Stroger Hospital early Sunday morning after being shot in West Town, police said.

Around 3:15 a.m., the man was walking in the 400 block of North Western Avenue when someone shot at him from a passing black car, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was "stable" after being treated for a gunshot wound in his right leg, Estrada said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

No one is in custody, Estrada said.
