EDGEWATER — A 42-year-old man was shot inside a car near Edgewater Beach Saturday night, police said.

Around 8:50 p.m., two men were sitting in a car in the 5300 block of North Kenmore Avenue when one of them pulled out a gun and shot the other in his abdomen, according to Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man who was shot then got into another car and drove away before crashing it in the 900 block of West Foster Avenue, Zala said.

The man was brought to Masonic Hospital, Zala said. Police could not provide his condition but said he was "stable."

Police said the shooting appeared to be drug-related.
