CHICAGO — Where will the Lucas Museum go now that the filmmaker has lost interest in Chicago?

George Lucas says the effort is heading back to California. He first attempted to build his museum of art at the Presidio, a park in San Francisco that was once a military base. That effort was rejected by the park's trust in 2014.

Now, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, he has been in discussions with San Francisco again, with the art museum being built in the city's Treasure Island area famous for its naval base.

Los Angeles is also in the running, perhaps near the University of Southern California where Lucas went to film school.

In a nod to Lucas' Star Wars series of films, Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti has said "the Force is strong in Los Angeles."

Upon the news breaking Friday that Lucas was giving up in Chicago, Garcetti added, that the museum "would be perfect for Los Angeles."
