UPTOWN — A 61-year-old cyclist was struck by an SUV Tuesday night near the Lakefront Trail Tuesday night, police said.

Around 7:20 p.m., the man was heading north on the trail in the 600 block of West Wilson Avenue when he was struck by an eastbound 2004 Toyota SUV, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was taken Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition, Estrada said.

About an hour after the incident Tuesday night, the cyclist's wheel remained in the grass about 10 few feet east of the site of the crash as officers inspected the scene.

The driver of the SUV was identified as Lilana Flores, 32, of Park Forest. She was given three traffic citations following the incident and is scheduled to appear in traffic court on Aug. 8, Estrada said.

The charges were not immediately available.
