South Chicago Robberies Trigger Police Warning

SOUTH CHICAGO — Two strong-arm robberies were reported within two blocks of each other in South Chicago this month, police said.

In each incident, police said, a man walked up behind someone and forcibly took jewelry from them.

The first robbery was reported at 1 p.m. on June 2 in the 7800 block of South Colfax Avenue, police said.

The second incident occurred between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on June 13 in the 7800 block of South Essex Avenue.

Police described the suspect as a black man in his late teens or early 20s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds.
