3 Killed, 23 Wounded In Shootings Since Saturday Morning, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings around the city left three people dead and 23 wounded between Saturday morning and Sunday morning, police said.

• A 65-year-old woman and a 73-year-old man died in an apparent murder-suicide in Hyde Park Saturday morning.

• A 23-year-old man was shot to death in Park Manor Saturday evening.

• About two hours later, a 33-year-old man was shot and killed while driving in Auburn Gresham.

In non-fatal shootings:

• Most recently, around 4:25 a.m. Sunday, a 40-year-old man walked into Advocate Christ Medical Center after being shot twice in each of his legs, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was "stable" after being shot in the 5400 block of South Albany Avenue in Gage Park, Estrada said.

• About 3:10 a.m., a 29-year-old man was shot in his leg in the 3500 block of West Douglas Avenue in North Lawndale, Estrada said.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was "stable," Estrada said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• At 2:15 a.m., a 37-year-old man was parking his car in the 900 block of East 45th Street in Bronzeville when two men walked up and shot at him, Estrada said.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in good condition with a gunshot wound in his right leg, police said.

• About 15 minutes earlier, two men were shot and wounded in Albany Park.

Three people were shot in Humboldt Park between 11 p.m. Saturday and 1:10 a.m. Sunday.

• Around 1 a.m. Sunday, two men, 24 and 29, walked into Community First Hospital after being shot in the 6000 block of West Addison Street in Dunning on the Far Northwest Side, Estrada said.

The 29-year-old was transferred to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where he was in serious condition with a gunshot wound in his groin, Estrada said.

The 24-year-old was in good condition with a gunshot wound in his left hand, police said.

• At 11:45 p.m. Saturday night, a 15-year-old by was walking up the steps of an apartment building in the 200 block of South Lavergne Avenue in Austin when he passed a man who pulled out a gun and shot him before fleeing on a bicycle, Estrada said.

The boy was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was "stable" with a gunshot wound in his right leg, Estrada said.

• About the same time, a 58-year-old woman was walking in the 700 block of East 131st Street in Altgeld Gardens when she heard gunshots and felt pain in her right hip, police said.

The woman was brought to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where she was "stable," Estrada said.

• Around 10:10 p.m., two men, 30 and 22, were walking near the intersection of 87th Street and Sangamon Street when a man emerged from a nearby alley and shot at them, Estrada said.

Both men were brought to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where they were listed in good condition with gunshot wounds in their left legs, Estrada said.

• At 7:30 p.m., two teens were standing in the 1600 block of South Springfield Avenue in North Lawndale when someone shot at them from a passing gray van, Estrada said.

One boy, 15, was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition with gunshot wounds in his left side and left arm, Estrada said.

Police said the boy is a documented gang member.

The other teen, 17, was also brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was "stable" with a gunshot wound in his right leg, police said.

• Around 4:30 p.m., three people were standing at the corner of 79th Street and Escanaba Avenue in South Shore when someone shot at them from a passing black car, Estrada said.

One man, 19, was brought to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was "stable" with a gunshot wound in his groin, Estrada said.

Another man, 20, was brought to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition with a gunshot wound in his right leg, Estrada said.

A third man, 31, was brought to South Shore Hospital in good condition after being shot in his left foot, Estrada said.

Police said all three men are documented gang members.

Officers later found a fourth person who had suffered a graze wound, apparently from the same shooting, police said. The person refused medical attention.

• Around 3 p.m., a 17-year-old was standing in the 3300 block of West Flournoy Street when someone shot at him from a passing black sedan, Estrada said.

The teen was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was "stable" with a gunshot wound in his abdomen, police said.

• About 11:25 a.m. Saturday morning, a 20-year-old man was standing in the 700 block of South Lawndale Avenue in North Lawndale when a man walked up and shot him before fleeing in a black car, Estrada said.

The man brought himself to Rush Hospital, where he was "stable" with a gunshot wound in his upper left leg, police said.

• At 8:30 a.m., a 28-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk in the 4200 block of West Gladys Street in West Garfield Park when someone jumped out of a nearby car and shot him in his hand and buttocks, police said.

The man was taken to Storger Hosptial, where he was listed as "stable," police said. 

No one is in custody, police said.
