BACK OF THE YARDS — A drive-by shooting left a 17-year-old dead and a 19-year-old man wounded on the South Side Saturday night, police said.

Around 10:20 p.m., the teens were standing in the 5200 block of South Sangamon Street when someone shot at them from a passing silver Audi, according to Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The 17-year-old was shot in his back, Zala said. He was brought to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the teen as Christopher Fields, of th 6200 block of South Sangamon Street.

The 19-year-old was also brought to Stroger Hospital, where he was treated for a gunshot wound in his right arm, Zala said. Police could not provide his condition but said he was "stable."
