MOUNT GREENWOOD — Barre It All will move July 1 to a new, larger fitness studio just around the corner in Mount Greenwood.

The gym will offer free classes the day after moving to 3203 W. 111th St. — next to the Edward Jones office on the southwest corner of 111th Street and Kedzie Avenue.

"We are so grateful to have been in the space we were in but with that being said, who doesn't like an upgrade?" said Kelly Lynch, owner of the gym.

Barre It All opened Aug. 1 at 11114 S. Kedzie Ave. in Mount Greenwood. The studio specializes in ballet-inspired workouts that rely on a barre — the official name of the handrail used by professional dancers.

"These workouts are truly all you need to stay in the best shape. We recommend a mix of cardio, barre and yoga classes. The number of days that one should attend class really depends on the goals of the client," Lynch said Tuesday.

Lynch was raised in the area, attending St. Cajetan Elementary School in Morgan Park and Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School in Mount Greenwood. She actually began teaching barre classes in April 2015 at Kennedy Park in Morgan Park.

Pronounced like the common name for a tavern, barre classes cater to female clients, often focusing on "trouble areas," such as hips, arms and abdominals, said Lynch, who was offering about a dozen classes per week when she opened her barre studio.

"At times, we had to cancel class because we had difficulty filling classes," she said.

However, the customer base continued to increase as word of the high-intensity workouts spread. Barre It All now offers 25 classes each week and will add even more when it moves from its 800-square-foot studio to the 1,200-square-foot spot nearby.

The new gym will also have full-length mirrors so clients can continuously check their form, shock-resistant floors to improve balance, two barres and improved lighting and sound systems, Lynch said.

She said the new gym has more trendy, boutique atmosphere. Lynch also said she'll continue to teach yoga, tabata, boot camp and kickboxing classes too.

"We pride ourselves on the fact that clients never walk out feeling like they could work out again in a few hours," she said.

Those interested in attending a class — including the free sessions on July 2 — must register online as space is limited. For information, visit Barre It All's website or call 773-727-8216.
