OLD TOWN — Construction crews at work building a 69-unit luxury apartment building on North Avenue in Old Town.

Chicago-based developer Sedgwick Properties is behind the seven-story project at 301 W. North Ave., which will offer a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, ranging from 601 to 1,300 square feet, when it's complete in fall of 2017.

Residents will be able to enjoy a rooftop terrace with a wading pool and cabanas, an outdoor kitchen, a fire pit and lounge seating. A number of other amenities are in the works including a fitness center, community room with demonstration kitchen, bicycle storage, secured heating parking and a package concierge system.

There will be 4,500 square feet of retail space on the ground floor.

The North Avenue building is just one of several projects currently underway in the neighborhood. Some neighbors have said they're worried that tall, modern buildings will destroy the quaint charm of Old Town.
