CHICAGO — A 30-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man were wounded in a shooting in Heart of Italy early Monday, according to police.

Both people were in the street in the 2300 block of South Leavitt Street at 1:30 a.m. when someone inside a passing red mini-van opened fire, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The woman was struck in her left leg and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where her condition was released but police said she was stable, Lemmon said. The man was struck in his left foot and was also taken to Stroger in what police said was a "stable" condition.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

No arrests have been made, Lemmon said.
