WEST TOWN — An eco-friendly home with solar panels on the roof and a greenhouse attached is ready to hit the market at $1.35 million.

Photos and a 3-D tour of the quirky home at 1313 W. Ohio St. have come available before its formal listing this weekend. Built in 2007 around a courtyard, the three-bedroom home has been featured on the Discovery Channel, in the New York Times, and elsewhere since.

“We’re trying to come up with a picture of the future, and we think this is what it will look like," homeowner Frances Whitehead told the Times in 2008

The home is built mostly with local materials, including American elm floors and artisanal glazed bricks, according to an email Realtor Jane Wenger sent to clients. The three-level house has a spiral staircase and lots of flexible loft space that can be used for an office, bedroom or gym. Sliding doors surrounding the courtyard bring in plenty of natural light.

The owners spent $40,000 to install wind turbines, according to the Times, but the total home cost is unknown. The property was formerly an unsightly brick warehouse.

The home will be formally listed Saturday, with an open house scheduled for Sunday. Check out the slideshow above or scroll down below for more photos of the home before it hits the market:
