• At 12:55 a.m., a 20-year-old man was shot in Chatham, Estrada said. The man was walking in the 800 block of East 82nd Street when a man with a gun got out of a car and shot at the victim.

The victim was shot in his left armpit area and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was in serious condition, Estrada said.

• At 11 p.m., a man who is 20 or 21 years old was shot in North Lawndale, Estrada said. The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, Estrada said.

The man was initially uncooperative, but then told police he was walking in the 3100 block of West Douglas Boulevard when a dark-colored car pulled alongside and a passenger pointed a gun at him, police said. The man told police he struggled with the man with the gun and was shot in his left hand during the struggle.

Police investigating in the area couldn't find blood, shell casings or other evidence, and they think the man shot himself, police said.

The man is a documented gang member, police said.

• At 6:26 p.m., a 42-year-old man was shot in Chatham, Estrada said. The man was sitting in a car in the 7800 block of South Lafayette Avenue when another car pulled up and someone shot at him.

The man heard shots and realized he'd been hit in his back and leg, Estrada said. A woman drove him to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was in good condition.

The man is a documented gang member, police said, and the shooting might be gang-related.

• At 1:05 p.m., a 17-year-old accidentally shot himself in South Shore, Estrada said.
