SOUTH LOOP — Old Navy is the latest retailer moving into the South Loop.

The clothing store is expected to open by the end of the year at the Shops At Roosevelt Collection, 150 W. Roosevelt Road, a spokesman for parent company Gap Inc. said.

Staff at the South Loop mall said Old Navy will open in a never-occupied space near the shops' ShowPlace Icon movie theater.

Once open, the store will be the fifth Old Navy in the city, following shops in the Loop, two in Lincoln Park, and Ford City.

"We are constantly reevaluating our real estate portfolio to ensure we have the right stores in the right places to best serve our customers," Sean Piazza, the Gap spokesman, said in an email.

Old Navy is the newest store heading into the South Loop mall. Nando's Peri-Peri, the rapidly growing South African chicken chain, last month announced its plans to open at the Roosevelt Collection.

Sloopin first reported Old Navy's plans.
