'Damen District' Turns One, Celebrates With Anniversary Bash

LINCOLN SQUARE — It's been a year since District and Alapash opened on Damen Avenue, planting the seeds for a new shopping/dining area on the eastern edge of Lincoln Square.

The businesses are celebrating their first anniversary with discounts, giveaways and drinks from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday at 4835 N. Damen Ave.

Neighbors Groundswell Coffee Roasters and Gallery 19 are also getting in on the fun.

Groundswell, 4839 N. Damen Ave., will host a pop-up shop featuring Terry's Toffee, Imaginary Girl Jewelry & Vintage, Poplux Soy Candles and Sockified.

Gallery 19 is holding an opening and artist talk for its newest exhibit, "Woodn't It Be Nice," featuring paintings on wood panels, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
