Black Lives Matter Exhibit At Newberry Showcases 'Rahm Failed Us' Shirt

CHICAGO — An exhibit at the Newberry Library showcases the history of Chicago activism complete with a Black Lives Matter display.

The display, with includes a "Rahm Failed Us" T-shirt and photos from the protests over Laquan McDonald's death, is part of the "Civil War to Civil Rights" exhibit at the library, 60 W. Walton St. The exhibit covers protests and movements led by black Chicagoans stretching from its earliest residents to the protests of late 2015, according to its website.

"The active engagement of Chicago's youth in the most pressing social issues of their time is a source of inspiration and hope — hope that a new generation of leaders will advance Chicago's century-long quest for civil rights, justice and equality for African Americans," says a sign at the exhibit.

Also included in the exhibits are photos, diaries, newspaper stories and documents that show the struggles of black Chicagoans.

"Civil War to Civil Rights" will be on display until April 2.
