Dove's New Dinner Menu Offers Cornmeal Fried Catfish, Calamari

WICKER PARK — After offering an all day menu for its first year-and-a-half, Dove's Luncheonette is now now splitting its menu into morning and evening options from chef Dennis Bernard.

"We've moved away from an all day menu to better accommodate guests dining preferences. Folks kept asking for dinner menus and so that's what we did. Guest reaction has been phenomenal! " a spokeswoman for the eatery at 1545 N. Damen Ave., said on Tuesday.

Effective since March 4, the morning menu is offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, while dinner begins at 3 p.m. through closing time at 10 p.m. during the work week and 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Dinner highlights include truca con aguachile, a pan fried ocean trout topped with a cucumber salad and a whole fried fish served with corn tortillas.

Dove's Luncheonette, owned by One Off Hospitality, the same team behind neighboring Big Star and The Violet Hour, opened in September 2014.  The cuisine is described as Southern-inspired Mexican fare.
