CHICAGO — Jimmy G. Buckets is now getting national airtime in a new Mountain Dew commercial.
Bulls star Jimmy Butler will appear in his first Mountain Dew commercial, which is airing this weekend during NBA All-Star Game festivities, a Mountain Dew spokesman said Thursday. Butler, known to Bulls fans as "Jimmy G. Buckets (the "G" stands for gets)," stars alongside Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook and Los Angeles Lakers forward Julius Randle in the national spot.

The appearance is the latest national commercial for the rising Butler, who was named the NBA's Most Improved Player last year and signed a $95 million contract extension last summer with the Bulls. He also appears in a new national NBA Store commercial, and starred alongside teammate Joakim Noah in a local BMO Harris commercial in 2013. Butler signed with Mountain Dew last year.
Sadly, the commercial may be Bulls fans' only chance to see Butler during this weekend's All-Star festivities in Toronto. Butler strained his knee in a game last week against the Denver Nuggets, and will be replaced by teammate Pau Gasol in Sunday's All-Star game.
