GOLD COAST — An 18-room high-rise home on Lake Shore Drive just hit the market at $13.5 million, making it the fifth-most-expensive listing in the city.

The six-bedroom, 10,000-square-foot home takes up two floors of an exclusive building at 1500 N. Lake Shore Drive. It includes seven fireplaces, seven full bathrooms, and a custom-made kitchen, limestone floors and staircase all imported from France.

"The apartment is a stunning example of French artistry," according to the listing

The home, built in 1927, was once owned by two generations of the Wrigley family, according to Crain's, which first reported the listing. The home is in a so-called cooperative building, where prospective buyers usually have to be approved by building residents in addition to financing their purchase.

The home faces southeast with lake and city views, and homeowners association dues are nearly $11,000 per month, according to the listing. The home's property taxes were undisclosed. Nancy Nugent of Jameson Sotheby's International Realty, who is handling the sale, declined to comment.

The most expensive home publicly for sale in the city is a 10-bedroom home nearby at 1516 N. Lake Shore Drive listed for $17 million. Another home at 924 N. Clark St. is asking $15 million, and two condominiums: one in the Waldorf Astoria and Vince Vaughn's three-floor penthouse in the Palmolive Building, are each asking $13.9 million.
