BOYSTOWN — Say goodbye to Halsted's tots and beer garden, because after Valentine's Day, the restaurant is toast.

Halsted's Bar and Grill, 3441 N. Halsted St., will close after Feb. 14. Its ownership group, LKH Management, will open a new eatery in the spring.

Halsted's has been a Boystown mainstay for 12 years along a fairly enduring strip of retail and bars. Up the street, LKH Management also runs Hydrate, Elixir Lounge and the trio of bars at Belmont and Halsted. Manhole, The Den and SEVEN opened in the former Spin nightclub last spring.

After a dozen years, though, Halsted's was unable to stand out in a Lakeview sea of sports bars with big-screen televisions and craft beer menus.

"Looking ahead, we're excited to launch a new concept we believe is better suited for the neighborhood and offers options not currently available to our neighbors in Lakeview," said Mark Liberson, president of LKH.

The closing was first reported by Eater.
