Police Commander Stops Burglary, Arrests 2 Men, Police Say

CHICAGO — A Chicago Police commander stopped a burglary Tuesday and took two men into custody, police said.

At 10:39 a.m., Deering District Cmdr. Daniel Godsel was driving when he received a call about a burglary in the 1600 block of West 38th Place, according to a Chicago Police news release. Godsel drove to the home and found pry marks on its front door and two men inside.

Godsel arrested two men.

Israel Diaz, 25, of the 5700 block of South California Avenue, and George Milero, 38, of the 3400 block of West 60th Place, face burglary charges, police said.

Diaz also faces a charge of possessing burglary tools, police said.
