BRONZEVILLE — A 43-year-old Avalon Park man has been charged with murder after he beat his Illinois Institute of Technology classmate to death with a blunt object, police said.

Carlos Wilson, of the 8500 block of South Constance Avenue, landed in court Saturday and was denied bond.

He reportedly used a tree branch early Thursday to beat 36-year-old Jermiron “Jay” Morris in the 3000 block of South Wabash Avenue after the two returned from a North Side strip club, according to the Tribune.

Police said officers responded to a report of battery at the scene, where they found Morris on the ground with severe wounds on his face. He was transported to Northwestern University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Morris was a recipient of the IIT Presidential Scholarship. He was scheduled to graduate in May.
