WEST LOOP — Al's Beef on Adams is offering a special promotion to reward charitable customers this month.

In exchange for donating to the store's winter drive for the homeless, the West Loop Italian beef franchise at 601 W. Adams St. will reward customers by giving donors a $1 Italian beef sandwich with an order of fries and drink.

The Adams Street restaurant is collecting coats, scarves, socks, blankets and toiletries for the homeless through mid-February.

The goal of the drive is to get warm clothing and toiletries to as many homeless people as possible when they need them most, owner Michael Stadnicki said. Stadnicki personally hands the donations out to the homeless throughout the city and also delivers some of the donations to Pacific Garden Mission in University Village.

"We have filled our donation box 10 times over in the last week," Stadnicki said. "So many great customers have come back and said, 'You know, I was just cleaning my closet and have clothes I needed to clear out. I'll be back tomorrow.'"

The promotion is only valid the Al's Beef on Adams.
