2 Teen Robbers Shot, Killed by Store Employee in Auburn Gresham, Police Say

CHICAGO — Two teens were shot dead while trying to rob a store in Auburn Gresham on Saturday night, police said.

At 8 p.m. the teens walked into a store in the 1300 block of West 87th Street and said they were robbing the business, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police Department spokesman. One of the teens took out a gun.

An employee shot at the teens, killing them, Estrada said. They were pronounced dead on the scene. No other injuries were reported. Police could not provide additional details.

William Larson, 17, of the 8300 block of South Throop Street, was pronounced dead at 8:30 p.m., according to Cook County Medical examiner's records. He died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Keshawn Marzette, 15, also of the 8300 block of South Throop Street, was pronounced dead at 9:30 p.m., according to Medical Examiner's records. He died of multiple gunshot wounds.

The Tribune reported that the robbery happened at Z&S Food & Liquor. According to the Tribune, a similar incident occurred in the same store on Aug. 11, 2011, when a suspect was shot to death in a struggle for a gun, and a clerk wounded by a second robber.
