CHICAGO — What did Chicagoans Google the most in 2015? The Chicago Cubs.

The North Side baseball team, whose playoff run ended in a four-game sweep by the New York Mets, was the trendiest and most-searched for subject of the year in the city, according to a list provided by Google.

That's impressive, given the Cubs are heavily searched every year in the city. The fact that the Cubs topped the 2015 list means that Chicagoans searched for the team in overdrive.

"Every single year, people are searching for the Cubs. You would think the Cubs, who are constantly being searched, wouldn't make the list," said Google spokesman Patrick Lenihan. "It's really impressive that the Cubs were the top trending search term."

The list shows how people in Chicago search differently than the rest of America. Lamar Odom, the troubled ex-NBA star, topped the list nationwide of most searched-for terms of the year. He is second on Chicago's list. But in Chicago, a few search terms didn't register on the nationwide top ten list, including the late Bobbi Kristina Brown (#3); Patrick Kane, the Blackhawks star accused of rape (#4); and Sandra Bland (#9), a Chicago-area woman found dead in a Texas jail cell.

Lenihan noted how locally focused Chicago searches were.

"I think it's clear Chicago really cares about what's going on in Chicago -- Chicagoans care about their city and their teams," he said.

Nationally, "Jurassic World" topped the list of most-Googled movies. "Straight Outta Compton" was Chicago's most Googled movie. Spike Lee's "Chi-Raq" didn't appear on either list.
