CHICAGO — Facing a growing avalanche of criticism, it still doesn't look like Mayor Rahm Emanuel has any plans to resign. But that hasn't stopped some corners of the Internet for making preparations in case he does.

An ad appeared Monday in the housing section of Chicago Craigslist offering up a "beautiful fifth floor office" at 121 N. LaSalle Blvd. — otherwise known as the City Hall building. The mayor's office is on the fifth floor, and has been for decades.

"This prestigious office was formally occupied by Harold Washington & both Richard Daley senior & junior," the ad reads. "The current tenant is in between jobs & preparing to vacate before the new year."

In the weeks since the Nov. 24 release of a video showing Officer Jason Van Dyke shooting 17-year-old Laquan McDonald 16 times, Emanuel has swatted away a wide-ranging and relentless volley of demands that he step aside and let someone else move into the fifth-floor office.
