LINCOLN PARK — A cafe/bookstore is coming to Clybourn Avenue.
The vacant 92-year-old building at 2212 N. Clybourn Ave., which used to house a Discount Mattress and an Einstein Bros. Bagels before that, is undergoing $200,000 in renovations, according to city records and the Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce.
Once complete, the 3,000-square-foot building will house a "retail bookstore with coffee and ice cream cafe," according to the renovation permit.
The chamber couldn't provide additional information on the cafe, as the owner hasn't applied for a business license yet.
Developer Near Loop Lofts LLC bought the building from suburban Park Ridge-based company Sierra Property Development in July for about $1.3 million, city records show.
Lewis Kostiner, who is listed as the manager of Near Loop Lofts LLC, could not be reached for comment.
What's known is crews will be building a new street facade with new brick and windows, as well as a 223-square-foot office mezzanine.
