WEST LOOP — Starting this weekend, neighbors will once again join together to usher in the holiday season at Mary Bartelme Park.

The park will host the fifth annual Christmas tree-lighting ceremony from 5-7 p.m. Saturday with a visit from Santa, sleigh rides, warm drinks and free pizza courtesy of Lou Malnati's. The Skinner Elementary School Choir and Merit Honors Brass Choir also plan to perform.

Families can take photos with Santa with a $5 donation to the park.

At 6 p.m. Wednesday, the fifth annual Menorah-lighting ceremony is planned in the park, 115 S. Sangamon St.

Before the Menorah-lighting ceremony, at 5 p.m., kids can enjoy Hanukkah crafts, activities and treats in Room 230 at Merit School of Music, located at 38 S. Peoria St. just north of Bartelme Park.

Both events are sponsored by the Mary Bartelme Park Advisory Council.
