LAKEVIEW EAST — Whether you light a menorah or a Christmas tree, head to Lakeview's east side this week.

On Wednesday, the Holiday Festival of Lights will start at 6 p.m. at Treasure Island Foods, 3460 N. Broadway. Hot cocoa and roasted chestnuts will be offered, while children can get photos with Santa as Girl Scouts and choirs from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel perform holiday carols.

Two 15-foot menorahs will be lit on Sunday at the store. The lighting is set for 6 p.m. on the first night of Hanukkah. It's one of more than a dozen ways to celebrate Hanukkah in Chicago this month.

Chabad of Lakeview will provide potato latkes, doughnuts, dreidels and chocolate coins during the menorah lighting, and the Chicago Menorah Car Parade will bring more than 50 cars down North Broadway.

The event is free, but attendees are asked to bring five cans of food to donate to a local food pantry.

After the lighting, Sluggers, 3540 N. Clark St., will host a party for attendees with free arcade games from 7-8 p.m. Those who bring cans of food to donate will get a free round in the batting cages, too.

The donated food will be used to build a giant "can-orah" during a family Hanukkah event from 5-7 p.m. Dec. 9 at Nettelhorst Elementary School.
