LINCOLN PARK — In a neighborhood as vibrant as Lincoln Park, shopping local is practically a no-brainer.

That satisfying feeling after supporting an independent business is something that can't be measured. This year, there's another perk — and it has a dollar amount attached.

Shoppers who spend at least $300 at a minimum of three businesses along Clark Street from Armitage Avenue to Diversey Parkway, including the south side of Diversey, between Friday and Dec. 31 will earn a $50 gift certificate to a local, full-service restaurant.

The promotion, which is funded through Clark Street Special Service Area No. 23, is available to the first 140 qualified shoppers.

What's new this year is all shoppers will be entered to win a "Taste of Clark Street" grand prize, which includes 20 $20 gift certificates to local restaurants and two tickets to the 2016 Cravings on Clark restaurant crawl. The chamber says this package is worth $500.

Shoppers who spend a total of $150 or more at a minimum of one business on Nov. 28 — the date of Small Business Saturday — on the aforementioned stretch of Clark Street are encouraged to submit receipts to the chamber. They'll be entered to win a pair of tickets to the restaurant crawl, a nearly $100 value.

To redeem your $50 gift certificate, shoppers must save their receipts, fill out the rewards form online and send it to the chamber's office by Jan. 15.
