WICKER PARK — Lil Bub, an Internet sensation billed as "the most amazing cat on the planet", plans to visit the Wicker Park Reckless Records' store next month to promote her first album as well as give adoring fans a chance to cuddle with her In Real Life (IRL).
Set for 5:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7 at Reckless Records, 1379 N. Milwaukee Ave. the stop, limited to 100 fans, is the only Chicago visit on a nationwide tour to promote "Science & Magic: A Soundtrack to the Universe," billed as "the first concept album made by a space cat."
Lil Bub, who has "a surprisingly deep catalog of musically credible friends," Pitchfork reports, is set to release her album on Dec. 4.
Along with a signed copy of "Science & Magic" on three choices of vinyl or CD, the event's entry ticket includes a limited-edition screen print and the chance to take a photo with Lil Bub and pet the cat who traces her roots to a tool shed in rural Indiana where she was rescued in 2011.
With the help of her adopted owner Mike Bridavsky, Lil Bub's cat celebrity status has skyrocketed, with an Animal Planet special, a Vice documentary and merchandise galore.
Tickets are $64.29 in advance. One-third of the ticket sale proceeds will be equally split between Chicago's Tree House Humane Society and Lil Bub's Big Fund for special needs pets. Only 100 tickets will be sold; each ticket permits entry for one adult accompanied by no more than two children under age 12.
