Englewood Shooting Kills Man, 19, Police Say

CHICAGO — A 19-year-old man was fatally shot in Englewood Sunday night, according to police.

The man was on the sidewalk in the 5700 block of South Union Avenue around 8:40 p.m. when someone opened fire, said Officer Jose Estrada, Chicago Police spokesman.

The man has been identified as Antonio Williams, of the 6900 block of South Carpenter Street, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Williams was shot in the chest and leg and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Estrada said. He was pronounced dead at 9:21 p.m., according to the medical examiner.

Williams is a documented gang member, police said. No arrests have been made as the investigation is ongoing, Estrada said.
