STREETERVILLE — Oprah Winfrey just sold one of her (formerly) favorite things for well less than she hoped.

The media baron who once called Chicago home sold her two-level condominium at Water Tower Place for $4.65 million earlier this month, Crain's reports. Though still hefty, the price is 40 percent less than her original ask of $7.75 million for the 9,600-square-foot condo off Michigan Avenue.

Winfrey, who rose to stardom with a Chicago-based talk show, moved to California in 2011. She formally listed the condo at Water Tower Place, 180 E. Pearson St., in January 2014.

Cook County property records confirm the November sale, and also show Winfrey spent $3.3 million in the early 1990s buying the three condos that make up her former Downtown home. It's unknown what she spent to combine the units.

Crain's reported the buyer is an entity registered with the address of local design/build firm Centaur Interiors.

It's the latest Chicago divestment from Winfrey, who has previously sold other homes here and in April auctioned off many of her personal items.

She sold Harpo Studios, where her show was filmed in the West Loop, to a developer for $32 million last year

"[Chicago has] been everything for me. I've spent more hours in this building than I have any other building on Earth," she told the Hollywood Reporter in March when she announced she was closing her Chicago office. "We were here when there was nothing but hoes and rats on the street, and now it's one of the hottest neighborhoods [in Chicago]."
