BRIDGEPORT — Do you have some old furniture that needs work — but don’t have the money to hire someone to do it?

With the help of MAKE! Chicago, you can learn to do it yourself.

On Saturday, the neighborhood maker space at 1048 W. 37th St. will host a $40 class from noon-3 p.m. called Furniture Restoration 101.

Students will learn about materials and techniques needed to spruce up old furniture on a budget.

The class will cover how to clean, restore, remove scratches, perform minor repairs and damaged finish — and then polish the furniture to protect it from future damage.

If you sign up for the class, all you’ll need to bring is a small or medium piece of furniture. Common pieces might include an end table, coffee table or chair.
