LINCOLN PARK — Prepare for your Thanksgiving feast by running — or walking — alongside beautiful Lake Michigan.

The 38th annual Life Time Turkey Day 5K/8K is set for Nov. 26.

Folks can register online for $20 - $45, depending on the age of the participant. Registration gets you a long-sleeve shirt while supplies last, free race photos and post-race food and hot beverages.

Organizers are expecting 8,500 people at this year's race, including 1,200 kids.

There will be a turkey tailgate zone, where families can play corn hole, turkey bowling and more.

Like last year, participants are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items, which will go toward the nonprofit Greater Chicago Food Depository.

Last year, more than 6,100 lbs of food were donated, which translated into 45,000 meals.

Fun fact: Thanksgiving is the most popular running holiday of the year, according to a Runners World report.
